Beliefs -are yours good for you?

We all operate in accordance with certain beliefs and assumptions. Most likely those that have been handed down to us by adults in our childhood. From people that are close to us and had a huge influence on our lives e.g. parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, priests etc. Although they all intended to give us information for our benefit, we also develop limiting beliefs which hold us back without us being consciously aware of it. We also develop our beliefs based on what we experience and have experienced. These beliefs in turn determine our values and behavior patterns. This all happens without any conscious effort or awareness. It therefore becomes important to create new beliefs to replace the ones that are not serving your purpose.

One Brain - Two Minds

We all possess two minds, the CONSCIOUS MIND and the SUBCONSCIOUS MIND also known as the unconscious. They both have entirely different functions. abilities and capacities.

The CONSCIOUS MIND is our normal everyday state of awareness. A mind that possesses good powers of reasoning, judgement and logic. A very important part of our life. It allows us to determine where we would like to go and to break things down enabling us to plan effectively. It allows us to have SELF AWARENESS. The problem is that it is very limited in what it can do for you.

The SUBCONSCIOUS MIND is where all of our knowledge of what is and is not, our wisdom, insight, intuition and memories of both happy and unhappy experiences are stored. It is our link to the higher self. Where we record and respond to habits. It is our engine where everything happens without us having to be consciously aware of it. Our bodily functions for one e.g. (breathing, digesting, heart pumping, controlling our hormones and our immune system etc.). It also takes charge of our habits whether they are good or bad for us (our belief system) and directs the conscious mind towards them. It does not like change and is there to protect us, so it will always take the path of least resistance.

The Critical Factor

This is a division between your CONSCIOUS and SUBCONSCIOUS mind. It takes what the CONSCIOUS mind is thinking and seeks approval from the SUBCONSCIOUS. Sometimes it allows it to be passed on other times it does not.

Prenatal and neonatal brains operate in the Delta and Theta brain frequencies, up until the age of about six. These frequencies are also called the hypnotic state. While in this state children develop their belief system while interacting with their parents and other adults, siblings, peers, religion, advertising, and television. Children pick up new information very quickly because their critical factor has not been developed. Once developed it becomes very critical as to what information is accepted by the SUBCONSCIOUS and what is not. Once the critical factor is developed it creates a new set of problems.

FOR EXAMPLE: You want to stop smoking. Your CONSCIOUS mind says “I want to stop smoking”. The critical factor then turns to your SUBCONSCIOUS to see if that thought can enter. Now because your SUBCONSCIOUS does not like change even if it is good for you the critical factor will decline the opportunity for that thought to enter. However once the critical factor has been silenced during hypnosis and your belief is changed to being a non smoker there is nothing standing in your way to becoming a non smoker.

This goes for everything that is holding you back to achieving what you desire to have in your life. Whether it is changing a bad habit, getting rid of a phobia, or any other area of your life.
